Each year, 2nd Ifield Scouts runs a number of kayaking sessions. For those who are trying kayaking for the first time, and for those who are working on their basic skills, the areas covered will include capsizing safely, preventing a capsize, and some basic paddling strokes. For those who are more experienced, there will be a chance to practice support strokes, rolling, freestyle moves and rescue techniques.
This acts as an introduction for the year as from the 14th May, we run weekly kayaking sessions at Tilgate Lake to enable our members to work towards their BCU awards as part of our active programme.
