Scouting in the UK is a great modern success story. It has grown year on year for the last 12 years and membership is now well over half a million members and adult volunteers. It’s success is built on the dedicated effort of thousands of adult volunteers up and down the country supported by only a small team of paid staff at Scout HQ.
2nd Ifield Scout Group can reasonably claim to be part of this success story. Over the last few years we have had some very notable successes including building a new scout HQ and starting a second Beaver Colony and not forgetting the many camps and events. All done by volunteers.
2nd Ifield’s success has meant we struggle to meet demand. We have a lengthy waiting list for young people to join us. Those in the new second Beaver Colony will need a Cub Pack for them to join by next January. This means that we have an urgent need to open a second Cub Pack. That needs additional adults to put this into motion. You will be hearing about this further over the next few weeks. However, do not wait to be asked, speak to David Clipperton our Group Chairman or one of the Leaders. Additionally we are looking to find a new Group Scout Leader. Full details are available on the Crawley District Website.
We will be holding a Recruitment Evening where we will be able to answer questions about the roles and how much training is supplied. We don’t expect new leaders to run their own group from day 1 and we will be providing a significant amount of training and support from experienced leaders. With many parents working variable work patterns we are very open to having leaders that can’t commit to being present every week.
